The National LGBT+ Domestic Abuse Helpline (the UK's only nationwide LGBT+ specific domestic abuse service) is currently recruiting. Please share the details below with anyone who may be interested in the position!

LGBTQ+ Domestic Violence and Abuse Helpline and Development Worker

We are looking to recruit a experienced Domestic Violence and Abuse Helpline Advisor to join our London based team.  The successful candidate will report to the Helpline Supervisor, and will work on a rota basis.  The key purpose of the role is to actively listen to LGBTQI people calling in, and assessing their level of risk, creating safety plans, and sign posting people to relevant services. 

To be considered for this post, you will need to demonstrate: 
  • Experience of working with survivors of domestic violence and abuse 
  • Experience of supporting people in crisis and  / or who are distressed 
  • Experience of delivering helpline support  
  • An understanding of the issues affecting LGBT+ people experiencing domestic violence and abuse 
  • Experience of service administration and development 
  • Be able to work as part of a team 

We would actively welcome applications from BME groups and the Trans community. 

Please note that there is a genuine occupational requirement under the Sexual Orientation Regulations 2003 for this post. It is considered essential that post holders have experience of LGBT needs, and impact of discrimination as the Helpline is run for LGBT people experiencing domestic violence. 
Job Postcode: London N7 6PA
Hours: 16 hours a week (2 days). 1 day working as a Domestic Violence and Abuse helpline advisor and 1 day supporting the Helpline Supervisor to develop the service. Some flexibility required. 

Salary: £14.60 per hour (This is equivalent to £26,571 pa) 

Employed by and based at: Galop, LB Islington  

Contract: 6 months with a view to extend
