THE VILLAGE
07 SEP - 06 OCT

Next month, BAFTA-nominee Art Malik takes to the stage in a powerful play at Theatre Royal Stratford East. THE VILLAGE is a story of community and solidarity; a call to arms against abuses of power.
Village life for Jyoti is simple: the people work hard, sing and live off the earth. But when the Inspector arrives back in town, things quickly begin to sour. Will she dare scorn his advances?
Set in contemporary India, THE VILLAGE is based on Lope de Vega’s masterpiece Fuenteovejuna and has been adapted by acclaimed playwright April De Angelis and is directed by our new Artistic Director Nadia Fall.
THE WOLVES
24 OCT - 17 NOV

Stretch, squat, lunge, kick, the girls are warming up, a pack of teenage warriors ready for battle and out to score some goals.
From their plot of astro turf in the heartland of middle America the girls gossip, joke and wrestle with the big and small questions of our times, whilst trying to remain unbeaten in their high school soccer league.
Sarah DeLappe’s award-winning debut play receives its European Premiere at Theatre Royal Stratford East in a new production directed by Ellen McDougall.
