My friend Rachel is the Founder and CEO of the world’s top matchmaking agencies (multi-award-winning). They specialise in finding life partners for the world’s most exceptional people (gay and straight). Membership is strictly invite only; however, I have been given my own invite code so I can give complimentary Open Membership (worth £360) to my friends/contacts. Open Membership is Vida’s passive tier, so it doesn’t guarantee any introductions. LGBT+ people make up between 2-5% of the population of the UK but are still experiencing high levels of discrimination in the workplace and significant inequalities, especially around mental health and wellbeing.
Today, BITC is launching Working with Pride. This report combines insights from two of BITC’s flagship studies (Mental Health at Work and Equal Lives) produced in partnership with Mercer Marsh and Santander, to shine a light on the issues facing LGBT+ people in the workplace. The report finds that:
·         Nearly three-quarters of LGBT+ people said that they had experienced mental health problems relating to work (74%)
·         Experience of mental health issues was a third higher among LGBT+ employees
·         Younger LGBT+ employees were found to be particularly vulnerable
·         Gay & bi+ employees aren’t accessing support for carers as much as their colleagues
Working with Pride includes recommendations for action to help all organisations create diverse and inclusive workplaces, and case studies showing how Mercer Marsh and Santander have taken steps to foster supportive and inclusive cultures.
