Sector News  The LGBT Fund FUNDING – undoubtedly the single largest issue faced by our sector since the first LGBT organisations were formed. In speaking to our Members, we hear time and time again the struggles that many face year on year just to survive, let alone grow to the size they think that they need to be to best serve their communities. Check out our website to find out about our plans for a new LGBT Fund to help fuel growth in our sector. Last few places available for - Getting Our Voices Heard: a free one day workshop The last few places are up for grabs for this free one day workshop that we are running in partnership with Stonewall. The one day workshops are taking place on Friday 13th April and again on Saturday 14th April.  The workshops will be using the proposed reform to the 2004 Gender Recognition Act as a learning framework for the day, to give LGBT groups and community activists the chance to build influencing and campaigning skills. Find out more information and how to book your group's place here Sexual Orientation Monitoring  The CEOs of two leading LGBT Charities are sending out a call to action to all LGBT groups to address the huge lack of evidence about LGBT people, their needs and experiences. Paul Martin, CEO of LGBT Foundation and Paul Roberts, CEO of LGBT Consortium have written a letter to highlight how monitoring sexual orientation, gender identity and trans status can help address that lack of evidence. Please click here to find out more and read the letter LGBT Consortium Welcomes New Sustainable Funding Manager  Matt Halliday joins LGBT Consortium in the brand new post of Sustainable Funding Development Manager. This one year project will seek to address the sector's lack of access to sustainable funding and will explore how we may go about setting up a new LGBT Investment Fund for the sector. Matt comes with a wealth of LGBT sector experience, having previously worked for GMFA and as CEO of London Friend. We are thrilled to welcome Matt to the Consortium Team. Get in touch with Matt here London Spring Networking As part of our focused engagement work with our Members in London we are pleased to launch the first in a series of regular networking events. These events will provide a space for LGBT groups and organisations in London to meet, share experiences and learn about local opportunities and shape the work we do in the city. Each event will enable us to address some of the issues that organisations and groups face. At our Spring Networking Event, you will have the chance to tell us what the next events should be focussing on and how these events can benefit your groups the most. GDPR  The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new, Europe-wide law that replaces the Data Protection Act 1998 in the UK. To support this, we are part of a drive to increase sexual orientation and trans status monitoring, so we can reduce health inequalities that LGBT people face. We are calling out to Members to encourage their own monitoring and to look to their local areas and see how a range of Authorities are approaching this. Your Engagement Team The Engagement Team are all gearing up for the Getting Our Voices Heard event that we are running in partnership with Stonewall on the 13th and 14th of April. We are looking forward to meeting many of our Members there, the last few places for both days are up for grabs this weekend, so find out more and book your group's place here. Next month we will announce our new training schedule, which will match the needs of our Members with a practical set of training sessions and resources... so watch this space! We continue to roll out our new Engagement Team plan, which sees each of our Members having their own named Engagement Officer. This enables us to work closely with them to create their own bespoke Membership Plan, ensuring that each Member gets the most out of their Membership. Our Trans Organisations Network is busy preparing for the announcement of the Government consultation around reforming the Gender Recognition Act and will be releasing a Brief next week.
