Join us today for: Inspire Inclusion on IWD - In conversation with Dr Yvonne Thompson CBE & Paul Sesay

Webinar

Date: 6th March
Time: 11.00 - 12.00

Join us for a virtual live conversational piece with Dr Yvonne Thompson CBE and Paul Sesay, where we will be delving into this year’s International Women’s Day theme; Inspire Inclusion.

Whilst we have come so far in terms of celebration of women in our workplaces and their contributions, we still have so much work to do to ensure true equity for all women.

The current landscape shows:

  • Only 4% of CEOs at FTSE 250 companies are women
  • The employment rate for women with dependent children is 74% compared to the 93% employment rate for men with dependent children.
  • The UK’s position on the Women in Work Index is at a low 14th, down five places from 2020 (shocking for one of the wealthiest countries in the world)

During this conversation, Yvonne and Paul will explore some of these challenges, share best practice and unpick their expertise regarding inclusion in the workplace and wider society.

Recipient of the Lifetime Achiever Award at the Inclusive Awards 2023, Dr Yvonne Thompson CBE DL Fellows RSA RA, SGCW, KCL (Leadership Exec Coach) is an entrepreneurial business leader, founder of Wintrade Global Women Intra & Entrepreneurs Network, and role model; we are thrilled to spotlight Yvonne during this discussion.

SPOTLIGHT WINNERS INTERVIEW: Dave Moreton

Dave

The National Diversity Awards caught up with last year’s winner of The Positive Role Model Award for LGBT, Dave Moreton.

A follower of Jesus for 50+ years, Dave Moreton, after spending five years in the RAF, in 1975 he was arrested and discharged after an investigation due to his sexuality. Feeling as though his sexuality was incompatible with his faith, Dave turned to prayer for guidance, eventually realising that he needed to accept himself for who he truly was. Playing an instrumental role in developing post-16 educational provision and support for students and young people with special educational needs, Dave has provided individual guidance to young people on a range of issues, including gender issues. Through his work at Oasis Open House Dave has created a safe and inclusive space where individuals can connect, share their experiences, and find support. His work has helped break down barriers and create more welcoming environments for LGBT+ individuals in religious communities.

Quote

The National Diversity Awards Ceremony was an absolute spectacle, in the best way possible. It was like attending a grand ball where every guest is a hero in their own right. The atmosphere was electric – imagine a mix of the Oscars, a bit of the Royal Variety Performance, and a dash of a family reunion you actually want to be at!
