SaferToBeMe summit

Dear Jean-Francois Dor,

I hope you are well! As you have seen, ReportOUT, in partnership with two local North East based charities, are putting together the U.K.'s first ever week-long global LGBTQ+ rights Summit. This Summit, with a theme of 'local to global' will be a range of events starting on the 20th October and lasting the full week, culminating in a two-day conference with 500 people attending and many more throughout the week (from the UK and internationally).

A significant outcome of this Summit will be the signing of the Newcastle Declaration, a global LGBTQ+ solidarity document (written by civil society organisations and with support from the FCDO), which will have a significant media impact. This will also be an important good news story in a time when LGBTQ+ rights and EDI are being rolled back, and so the Declaration will be able to be signed by businesses, charities, institutions and eventually, governments.

Details of the whole Summit can be found here, with tickets available soon: https://www.reportout.org/safertobemeoverview

I am writing to see whether your members would be able to sponsor either the Newcastle Declaration or the two-day conference, as we are seeking to cover the costs of venue hire and other costs associated with both. In return, we will ensure that organisations who sponsor us, gain exclusive tickets for our launch, social media shout outs, organisational interviews to promote their support, and more.

As three small charities (one of which are volunteer led - us!) putting a Summit of this scope together, it's a significant undertaking with costs, and we are seeking the support of the LGBTQ+ business community.

If organisations can sponsor with either a sponsor amount of £500 or £1000 (or ideally more if they are able), this would make a huge difference and will enable us to secure everything that we need. We have sponsors secured already, but we need more to be able to make this U.K. first (and world first) event go with a bang, to create good news stories and a visible fight back to the rollback of rights. This event will leave a lasting legacy in the U.K. and beyond, and we hope will drive people toward your own businesses as a result.

Please do spread this email to your networks and if businesses would like to teach out to me directly, they can at: drewdalton@reportout.org

Thank you!

Best wishes,
