#KennyLives - An LGBT+ inclusive book in EVERY UK primary school
Olly Pike will be launching his latest children's picture book Kenny Lives with Erica and Martina - a story designed to teach primary school aged children about diversity and acceptance whilst inspiring them to act whenever they see anyone else's human rights being compromised.
Olly's new book was inspired by the 1981 children's picture book Jenny Lives with Eric and Martin by Danish author Susanne Bösche - A book which was unfairly vilified as 'homosexual propaganda', and the negativity surrounding it subsequently led to the passing of Section 28.
38 years later, LGBT+ inclusive books, resources and lessons for primary school aged children are again under attack. This year we have seen angry protests from parents trying to stop books like Olly's being used in classrooms. It's time to stand our ground and ensure that primary education is LGBT+ inclusive.
Join Olly as he launches Kenny Lives with Erica and Martina and shares with you his plan of creating a more accepting world for future generations.
THE EVENT:
Hosted by the fabulous comedy-drag performer Michael Twaits, attendees will hear from various guest speakers, including LGBT+ Activist and former owner of Gay Men's Press, Neal Cavalier-Smith.
Olly Pike will share with you his latest story and his goal of making sure relationship education in all UK primary schools is LGBT+ inclusive.
Opportunity for networking, book signings, photos and socialising.
Refreshments will be served (wine/beer/cider/soft drinks).
