The Psychosocial Effects of Gender Identity and Their Role in Aesthetic States 
 
You are being invited to take part in an online research study, which is being completed as part of a MSc Psychology student project at Goldsmiths, University of London. Before you decide to take part, it is important for you to understand why the research is being carried out and what it will involve. What is the purpose of the study?

The study aims to explore how your feelings and gender identity affect your aesthetic experiences. The goals of the study will be explained at the end. The study is being carried out as part of a postgraduate research dissertation.

 

What will happen to me if I take part?

You will be asked to fill out a series of questionnaires. The study will take about 10 minutes to complete. 

 

Do I have to take part?

Participation is entirely voluntary. If you decide to take part, you are still free to withdraw at any time and without giving a reason.


What are the possible disadvantages and risks of taking part?

There is no significant discomfort anticipated as a result of taking part in this study. Some questions are sensitive to gender identity, and if you feel uncomfortable at any time during the study, you are free to withdraw. If you wish to participate, answering all questions is recommended.

 

What are the possible benefits of taking part?

Benefits of participation include watching a short film inspired by this study and a chance to win 50 pounds.

Will my taking part in this study be kept confidential?

All information which is collected about you during the course of the research will be kept strictly confidential. If you wish to enter the lottery, your email will be kept separately from your survey answers.

 

What will happen to the results of the research study?

The results of the research will be written up as part of a postgraduate dissertation. The data will not be attached to you or identifiable in any way.

 

Who has reviewed the study?

The study has been reviewed by the Research Ethics Committee at Goldsmiths, University of London.
