Join your Network on the 23rd January at the exclusive Savile Club in Mayfair. We are a group of Gay Professionals who like their comfort, good wine and food, comfortable surrounding and great people. Lady Colin Campbell has graciously accepted to be our guest of honour on this occasion. The Savile Club was established in 1868 by a group of the most distinguished writers and artists of the time. Its home is a fine 18th Century house in the heart of Mayfair, whose air of elegant exclusivity reflects the uniquely creative ambiance which is preserved in the Savile Club of today. Dress code (for Members and Guests) The Club has no formal dress code, other than a rather undefined rule of not offending other members, so although for example jeans and trainers are not permitted and a jacket is required (except in very hot weather when a notice will be posted on the board), a tie is not de rigueur. It reflects of course on the price since we  pay for room hire and more expensive wines and include canapés. The choice (this may change pending new menus in 2018) is White Burgundy: Macon-Uchizy and Bordeaux: Chateau Beauregard-Ducourt. Canapés:  Selection of Crostini:             Oven dried cherry tomatoes and feta cheese, mustard dressing             Parma Ham and horseradish cream             Smoked Salmon, crème fraiche and dill             Marinated artichoke hearts with olive pesto                        Tiger Prawns on a stick with dipping sauce                        Mozzarella, Tomato and Basil kebab                        Chicken Satay                        Honey & Mustard Sausages                        Smoked Haddock Welsh Rarebit                        Salmon Fishcakes, Lemon Mayonnaise                        Anchovy Sticks and remoulade sauce The price is £49.50 and includes a small fee towards the running of GPN. GPN is a non for profit membership organisation operating since 2010. The excess from the membership fees after food, drinks and room hire pays for the website, promotion, organising, stationary including the badges, transport & banners, guests and guest speakers.  Members who have already paid for the year, there is no further charges except that we now will meet bimonthly and up to five times a year. By hiring private rooms, we can talk and make the occasional presentation without the noise associated with cheaper venues.  As we did over the last few years, drinks will be included, (up  to a point though!). I am also delighted to extend another exclusive invitation to the Whitefriars Club, of which I am the Honorary Secretary, at the Palace of Westminster to Celebrate its 150th Anniversary on Thursday 22nd February. November's Club Love black tie dinner and cabaret, hosted by the one and only Graham Norton, was held during the run up to World AIDS Day in London, and proved to be wildly fun and exciting. Guests included Ellie Goulding, Pixie Geldof, Rod Stewart, Penny Lancaster, Dolph Lundgren and Darcey Bussell, who were treated to performances by Sam Smith and Anne Marie and entertained by a line-up of cabaret artists including the Gypsy Queens, Le Gateau Chocolat, and Pam Ann.   The evening raised over £1m for our local partner organisations working in Africa, providing support, testing and treatment to the hardest-to-reach communities in countries that criminalize same-sex relationships.  Lord Harry Dalmeny of Sotheby’s was auctioneer, presiding over bids for exclusive lots such as an 18-carat white gold and diamond Bulgari Diva’s Dream necklace. Vincent Reynes, Managing Director, Bulgari UK, commented: “We are proud to continue to partner with the Elton John AIDS Foundation in the creation of inspirational fundraising events which continue to achieve so much in the fight against AIDS across the globe.” Check out more photos from the night EJAF launches the world’s first social impact bond to fight HIV/AIDS The Elton John AIDS Foundation has launched the world’s first ever social impact bond to fight HIV/AIDS, supported by the Big Lottery Fund. Our bond, the Social Investment Partnership, is a new way of funding HIV/AIDS interventions by focusing and paying for concrete outcomes. By identifying new cases of HIV and re-engaging those who have dropped out of HIV care, our SIP tackles the most difficult and entrenched HIV/AIDs related issues in South East London. We have brought together private investors with the NHS, local councils and voluntary groups to bring about these outcomes using evidence-based interventions. Thank you for your support in 2017! Now in our third year, the volunteer-led and permanent V&A LGBTQ Tours have gone from strength to strength. We've seen 2750+ visitors, received three awards, and I was very moved when so many came to show their support for marriage equality in my home country - and we won - with same-sex marriage now legal in Oz! I was kindly offered a few roles this year as Museums Association Transformer (Diversify), AMA Future Proof Museums fellow and Stonewall BAME / POC Role Model. For next year, I have been commissioned to prepare a good practice guide for presenting LGBTQ narratives in a museum context, so if you have a museum project that would be an ideal case study, please do get in touch dan@dannouveau.co.uk  The V&A LGBTQ Tours return next year on the last Saturday of each month, with the first one for 2018 at 4pm on Saturday January 27. At The Museum The V&A LGBTQ guides presented on online tour in collaboration with the i newspaper for LGBT History Month. We also hosted an evening of queer dance with London Contemporary Dance School and Central School of Ballet for Friday Late: Out For Revolution.  Watch Video New V&A LGBTQ Guides We are in the process of training our third generation of LGBTQ guides. Thank you to long-standing guides Morag Cuthbert and Tony Mollet for their service and for helping start the programme. The new year will see new guides, new objects, new stories and even more #QueerVAM posts! See #QueerVAM Out And About We took our show on the road with talks at Solent Southampton University's 'Invisible Identity and the Creative Act' conference and LGBTQ Tours for Fun Palaces at National Maritime Museum. I also tried my hand at stand-up comedy for Museums Showoff!   Watch Video Community Outreach We ramped up our community outreach this year, with our guides hosting groups such as Diversity Role Models, Ancient House Thetford Teenage History Club, BAME in Publishing, many corporate and university LGBTQ societies as well as Gender Studies groups. Book A Tour Museum Pride LDN A cohort of museum people marched at Pride in London under the Museums Association banner. Many of our institutions also celebrated 50 years of partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales with a range of exhibitions and events. Watch Video Glittering Prizes The V&A LGBTQ volunteers received our third award, the Marsh Trust London regional award for Museum Learning. Also, the We Are Here project (for which I volunteered as Private Frederick Cartwright) received the Museums + Heritage Award for best Marketing Campaign.  Read On
