IN THE AGE OF COVID APPLICATION PACK
The Arts Project is offering £1.500
for an artwork commission reflecting how COVID-19 has shaped our lives and ways
the pandemic might change this in the future. We are looking for a successful
applicant with an engaging and thought-provoking installation concept that can
bring together a range of contributing participants. The exhibition is planned
to take place during 2022 in The Conference Centre at St Pancras Hospital 4 St
Pancras Way NW1 OPE

application you are advised to visit and view the gallery space anytime Monday
to Friday from 9.00 am to 5.00pm. There may access restrictions. These
currently require masks and 2 people in the gallery at a time. Restrictions are

RELATING TO YOUR APPLICATION.
TIMETABLE
Our commissioning panel will look at every submission
received before or on 30/9/21.
Selected applications would be accessed by the
commissioning panel with an invitation for an interview in the gallery during
October to look at and discuss any queries.
We plan to be fluid with
installation dates although the exhibition is likely to happen during
March/April through or May 2022 at the latest depending on COVID restrictions
as they evolve.
We will liaise with the successful applicant
about dates involved. Installation usually takes place during weekends. The
exhibition is planned to run in the gallery for up to 3 months.
ADMINISTRATION NOTES
Payment to the successful applicant will involve an
initial payment of £775 to cover costs and time with the final £775 paid on
completion of the artwork linked to the opening of the exhibition. The artwork
may either remain the property of the owner or could involve
negotiated ownership with the Trust.
The successful applicant will have the full support, curatorial advice, and guidance
of The Arts Project team of Peter Herbert, Curator Manager, and Marius Els,
Operations Manager. As regards any issues that arise involving
content, health, safety, and installation, both The Arts Project and Trust
Communications will advise and resolve these with the artist. Final decisions
on this matter will remain with The Arts Project.
BACKGROUND NOTES YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER
The concept could relate to many
areas of ethical thinking including aesthetics, sociology, politics, and
philosophy. Ranges of emotional context including relevant aspects of
humour are welcome though there may be
restrictions on material likely to offend with proximity to trauma and stress
clinics in the building. The gallery’s location in The Conference Centre means
that it sits in a key strategic position close to central London.
There will be planned events
linked to the exhibition.
We welcome mixed media although
some aspects including film may pose logistical issues.
A short film about the project will
be made by documentary filmmaker Anna Bowman.

NOTES ABOUT THE ARTS PROJECT
The Arts Project was established in 2003 by
curator manager, Peter Herbert, who worked previously in Administration at the
Trust as a Records Manager. The Arts Project
has grown over nearly 2 decades since the first exhibition Reflections and
Light in 2003.
Since then, The Arts Project has presented over 375 major themed
exhibitions four or three times a year and supported over 600 artists from
within creative staff, service users and communities local, nationally as well
as internationally.
Located in two areas adjacent to Conference Centre rooms at St Pancras
Hospital, our spacious galleries offer artists opportunities to create mixed
media installations, display in a lighting-controlled gallery space as well as
a linked gallery offering the power and possibilities of natural light.
In the Covid-19 era, we have increased our online digital presence,
linked up with new supporting organisations as we enter a brave new world offering
all the adventures of growth and possibilities in the linked worlds of art and
health care.

Jean-François’ network offers people from the LGBTQI+ community the opportunity to come together in a relaxed, informal setting to introduce themselves to other like-minded individuals. My own experience of it was that I was able to meet professionals, be they business owners of employed, some of whom I am still collaborating these days in my own business. The network switched online during the pandemic, not only continuing the service but providing people with company and support during the lockdown periods. Guest speakers are on hand to offer their guidance and experience in working in business. The network is the only such one that exists in London, and should be supported as much as possible.

UPS and OutBritain join forces to recognise the UK’s Proudly Unstoppable small businesses
Our partners at OutBritain, the UK’s newest LGBT+ business network, are working with UPS, the global logistics leader, and the United States National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) to help UK based small and diverse businesses who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic.
Through their ‘Proudly Unstoppable’ campaign, UPS are offering UK small businesses the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to £4,500 each, with OutBritain and NGLCC organising and administering the give-away.
To apply, eligible small businesses* should complete this on-line form before midnight on the 18th August. Winners will be advised shortly after, with cheques arriving by UPS delivery (naturally).
